Pledges unflinching support to achieve mandate

The Governing Board of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), after observing the patriotic and focused zeal of the Agency’s Executive Management towards delivering on its mandate, has pledged its total support.

The members pledged their support during their inaugural meeting in Lagos, assuring of unflinching commitment to ensure the agency midwives a credible and enviable blue economy for the country.

Speaking on this, the Board Chairman, Hon. Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar, particularly assured that the Board would stand firmly by the Agency not only to realise its corporate mandate, but more especially, to actualise a robust and vibrant marine domain.

Commenting further, he expressed satisfaction and confidence in the Executive Management, noting: “As you may know, the Management of the Agency has signed a performance bond with the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, which will serve as the Key Performance Indicators to measure the Agency’s achievements. 

“As a Board, we are determined to work with the Management to ensure the full realisation of activities that will help shape policy direction for the Agency”, Hon. Yusuf Abubakar stressed.

On his part, the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of NIMASA, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, while welcoming members, reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to its core mandate of promoting and regulating shipping, maritime safety, security, and marine environment protection in Nigeria. 

He emphasised that the support of the Governing Board would further strengthen NIMASA’s capacity to drive initiatives aligned with the Federal Government’s vision for a sustainable Blue Economy.

Dr. Mobereola reiterated that NIMASA Executive Management would continue to work closely with the Board and relevant stakeholders to foster an enabling environment for investment, enhance maritime infrastructure, and build human capacity in the sector.
