Worsening Insecurity: Anxiety in FCT, as multinationals, embassies plan relocating to Lagos – Source

Several multinational companies and embassies are contemplating relocating from Abuja to Lagos due to escalating incidents of kidnappings and growing insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), a concerned northerner, Hidima, has alleged

Hidima, a Doctor of Philosophy, shared this information on his verified X account, yesterday.

This comes amid a noticeable trend, with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) recently announcing its intention to transfer some of its departments from Abuja to Lagos State.   The decision, as stated by a CBN official, aims to decongest the apex bank’s head office.

Despite resistance from some staff members who claim tribal motivations, the source insists that the move is primarily for safety reasons and to enhance productivity.

This is just as kidnappers, on Thursday, broke into the Nigeria Post Army estate Kurudu in Abuja, whisking-away two people  while others fled.

The incident, which occurred at around 10:00 p.m. in the phase 2 region of the estate, involved kidnappers entering the property and taking away Barrister Cyril Adikwu’s wife and mother-in-law.

According to the victim’s neighbor, Austine John, the kidnappers entered the barrister’s home, opened fire, and seized his wife and in-law, while the barrister managed to flee.

“It all started at about 10:00pm; we suddenly started hearing gun shot and immediately we knew something was wrong. I quickly went out to make sure my gate was well locked; and then we heard the gun shot in the Barristers House; then we alerted the estates’ management, who immediately swung into action. Within a short time, the army people came around and started shooting too.. but before they came the kidnappers had taken the wife and the in+law of the barrister.

“This is really traumatising; because we could not sleep throughout the night due to fear of the kidnappers coming back. President Tinubu should pls help Nigerians put an end to this barbaric act by kidnappers”.
