Wild celebration in Kano, as Supreme Court affirms Gov. Yusufs election victory

Residents and supporters of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano erupted in wild celebration yesterday, following the Supreme Court’s confirmation of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s victory.

Recall that a five-member panel of justices yesterday unanimously held that the lower court misunderstood the import of the purported deduction of 165,616 ballot papers in favour of Governor Yusuf.

The joyous celebration, marked by tricycle displays and high-speed processions, took over the metropolis, dispelling earlier tensions. Despite security warnings, the city witnessed a lively takeover by youths.

Meanwhile, Governor Yusuf, reacting to yesterdays judgement of the Supreme Court that affirmed his election, expressed gratitude ton social media.

Yusuf, who was at the apex court in Abuja to witness the judgement, took to his verified X handle to expressed appreciation to God over the latest judgement. He said: Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah, which in English translates to: I thank God, I thank God.
