The Federal Government has insisted that there will be no strike in the country despite earlier declaration by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC).

Recall that the NLC and the TUC had earlier agreed to commence a nationwide strike on 3rd October, 2023 over the failure of the Federal Government to meet their demands.
The Federal Government, on Wednesday, said President Bola Tinubu will unveil the palliative package for workers in the customary presidential speech to commemorate Nigerians Independence Day.
The spokesperson for the Labour Ministry, Olajide Oshundun, said the meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, would be centred on the announcements that will be made by President Bola Tinubu, during his October 1st independence day broadcast.
He also said the ministry is working hard to meet with the second aspect of the demand, which is focused on the wage award, adding that they have already secured the release of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTE) factional Chairman.
