Vanguard newspaper reporter killed by hit-and-run driver, Police clarify

The missing Vanguard newspaper reporter, Tordue Henry Salem, who was found dead on Thursday, was killed by a hit-and-run driver.

The Police Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba, who paraded the driver, Clement Itoro, in Abuja yesterday, said the Police discovered his corpse at Wuse General hospital mortuary on Thursday, November 11, at about 11 a.m, where his identity card was found on him.

It was gathered that the accident occurred on the 13th of October, and his corpse was taken to the hospital but that the hospital officials only dumped the body in the morgue without any attempt to identify the body and contact the family.

Itoro said he reported the matter to some policemen who were on patrol at the Wuse area, but they asked him to formally report it at Wuse Police Station, which he refused.

He also said he refused to stop at the scene of the accident because it was a hot spot for criminals at the night.
