According to security sources, the operation followed credible tips and involved close coordination between the military and local volunteers, allowing the suspects to be intercepted before they could target nearby communities.

Explosive materials and related components were recovered at the scene, while additional members of the group reportedly fled toward the Mandara Mountains after coming under fire. Four AK-47 rifles were recovered, while two motorcycles used by the suspects were destroyed.

Preliminary findings suggest the attackers were sent from camps in the Mandara Mountains linked to a Boko Haram faction.

Troops have since intensified surveillance and intelligence-gathering efforts aimed at identifying and disrupting similar plots.

Theatre Command officials say collaboration with other security agencies and community volunteers is being strengthened across Borno and Yobe states to protect soft targets. Public awareness efforts are also ongoing, to encourage residents to report suspicious movement.

‘Operation HaÉ—in Kai’ reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining pressure on insurgent groups and ensuring the safety of communities within the region.
