…Awards  ₦1m to Abuja motorist The Court of Appeal in Abuja has  barred the Directorate of Road Traffic Services, popularly called VIO, from stopping, impounding and confiscating vehicles and imposing fines on motorists. Recall that a human rights activist had gone to court to stop VIOs from impounding vehicles. VIO to issue special identification numbers to commercial drivers in FCT

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Directorate of Road Traffic Services (DRTS) says it will begin the issuance of special identification numbers to commercial drivers operating in the territory. The FCT VIO Director, Wadata Bodinga, disclosed this during an interview with newsmen yesterday in Abuja, adding that commercial vehicles without the number would not be allowed to operate within the FCT.
