The Senate of the University of Abuja has appointed a 41-year-old Professor of Law, A’isha Maikudi, as the institution’s acting Vice Chancellor. Maiku?i, a Professor of International Law, is also the youngest professor of law in Nigeria. Maiku?i, who is the university’s current Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics,  was announced as the Acting VC after her nomination at the valedictory Senate meeting held on Wednesday, according to a statement by the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah. The University of Abuja branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has begun an indefinite strike to draw attention to developments bordering the union.
