Nigeria, Morocco, others sign MoU on $30bn pipeline

Nigeria, Morocco, Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, Benin, and Guinea, on Friday, signed four Memoranda of Understanding for the construction of the $30bn Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline Project at the Abuja headquarters of the Economic Community of West African States, (ECOWAS). Commissioner, Infrastructure, Energy and Digitalisation, ECOWAS Commission, Sediko Douka, while speaking on the sidelines of the event, said, “The project is worth about $30bn and its impact on the African continent is going to be massive when completed”. Reps order probe into $12bn Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline project

The House of Representatives, yesterday, took steps to address the prolonged construction of the $12 billion worth Trans-Saharan Natural Gas Pipeline project. The House urged the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Ltd, to provide updates on the implementation, fund utilisation and the current status of the project. The lower chamber also requested the NNPC to review the National Gas Master Plan relating to the project, in order to ensure conformity with the variables of today’s global economy.
