Cholera kills 39 in Sokoto

In the last three weeks, Gastroenteritis, otherwise known as Cholera, has killed 39 people in 18 out of the 23 local government areas of Sokoto State. The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ali Inname revealed this, while giving an update on the epidemic ravaging the State. According to Inname, 23 out of the casualties were recorded in the first two weeks of the epidemic, while the remaining 16 deaths were recorded in the past one week. Stomach flu outbreak hits 13 LGAs, kills 23 in Sokoto

The Commissioner for health in Sokoto state, Ali Inname has disclosed that 23 people have died of gastroenteritis in the State. Gastroenteritis, also known as stomach flu, is an intestinal infection marked by diarrhoea, cramps, nausea, vomiting and fever. It is spread by contact with an infected person or through contaminated food or water. Inname while speaking at a media conference on Tuesday said 265 people have been infected with the disease across 13 LGAs. NSCDC captures notorious bandit, Galaduma in Sokoto

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), has captured and arrested a wanted notorious bandit, Bello Galaduma, in Sokoto State. According to the NSCDC’s Director, Public Relations, DCC Olusola Odumosu, in Abuja, the 40yr-old suspected bandit, who had been on the wanted list of security agencies for more than two years running, was arrested by the NSCDC Sokoto State Command. Bandits raid Sokoto cattle market, kill trader, steal N12m

Suspected bandits have killed one person and robbed some cattle traders of N12 million in Sabon-Birni local government area of Sokoto State. A source said the incident happened on Monday, when the assailants blocked Shinkafi-Sabon Birni road. It was learnt that one of the traders was killed during the attack. Sokoto: Police rescue 12-yr-old girl from solitary confinement

The Nigeria Police, Sokoto State Command, has rescued a 12-year-old girl who was said to have been caged for eight months by her guardians, identified as Emmanuel Basey and his wife, Esther Emmanuel.
