Nigeria’s worsening security crisis has intensified the push for state police, with fresh data showing that more than 5,000 people lost their lives in violent attacks across the country during the second quarter of 2026. A report released by SBM Intelligence on Monday revealed that 5,091 people were killed between April and June in incidents linked to terrorism, insurgency, armed robbery, kidnappings and communal violence.
