ASUU strike: Protesting students block Sagamu-Benin Expressway

Students in Ogun on Monday blocked the Sagamu-Benin Expressway in protest against the ongoing strike action by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The joint protest had in attendance students from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye;  Tai Solarin University of Education, Science and Technology (TASUED) Ijagun and Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB), Abeokuta. A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Nigeria Development Front (NDF) has urged the Federal Government to put in place mechanism to end Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) incessant strikes in the country. Nigeria ranks 11th among most miserable countries in the world – Report

Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, has been ranked 11th in Hanke’s 2021 Annual Misery Index. The figures, published on the verified Twitter handle of a Professor of Applied Economics at John Hopkins University in the US, Steve Hanke, showed that Nigeria was the fourth most miserable country in Africa last year, only behind Sudan, Zimbabwe and Angola.
