INEC recognises Nenadi Usman-led LP after court order

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has recognised the Labour Party (LP) National Working Committee (NWC) led by Nenadi Usman. INEC indicated that the move followed a court order mandating the electoral commission to do so. Checks on the INEC website as of Friday showed that the umpire has now listed Usman as the caretaker committee chairperson of the Labour Party (INEC). Labour Party (LP)’s Interim National Chairman, Nenadi Usman, has welcomed the judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja, which dismissed a suit filed by former party chairman, Julius Abure, against the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC). In a statement issued yesterday, Usman described the verdict in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1523/2025 as a “profound relief” and a reaffirmation of the Supreme Court’s April 4, 2025 decision, which nullified Abure’s claim to the party’s leadership.
