Banks lift blockage of USSD transactions on MTN

Commercial banks have reconnected MTN customers earlier denied access to the unstructured supplementary service data (USSD) payment channels. This happened after the Managing Director and Chief Executive officer of MTN Nigeria, Karl Toriola, announced the decision to revert discount offered to banks on airtime sales to 4.5 percent commission after it was reduced to 2.5 percent by the telco. Telecommunication firms, MTN and Airtel Nigeria have commenced the National Identification Number (NIN) registration exercise in its retail outlets across the country. 8 million subscribers have submitted NINs, says MTN

Telecomms giant, (MTN), has announced that so far, eight million subscribers have uploaded their National Identification Number, (NIN), on its platform. In a disclosure notice sent to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), the telecomms company also said the deadline given for subscribers to update their SIM registration records with the NIN is welcome development. MTN imports 14,000 devices for NIN registration

Mobile telecommunications company, MTN, says it has ordered 14,000 new devices to enroll and capture National Identity Numbers, (NIN). The telecoms company, during an investors call on Thursday, said that the Federal Government had granted MTN and other operators a licence to register the identities of Nigerians, Bloomberg reported.
