A Magistrates’ Court in Suru-lere, in Lagos State, yesterday remanded a 43 yr-old man, Ifeanyi Ndieze, who allegedly defiled a three-year-old girl in a church. The defendant, who resides at Karimu Street, Suru-lere, is facing a charge of defilement, which contravenes Section 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. In its bid to solidify the security architecture of Lagos state, its Police Command yesterday carried out simultaneous raids on areas believed to be harbouring criminals and hoodlums, across the fourteen Area Commands in the State. Lagos, Bayelsa, other pending bye-elections for Dec. 5 – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the pending bye elections for December 5. According to a statement it issued yesterday, INEC’s National Commissioner & Chairman, Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, the Commission said that based on consultations with stakeholders in the eleven states where the elections will take place, it believes that security in the affected States has improved, “consequently, the Commission has decided to hold all the pending bye-elections on Saturday December 5, 2020.”

Group hails move Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu yesterday announced plans to repeal the Public Office Holder (Payment of Pension Law 2007), which provides for payment of pension and other entitlements to former governors and their deputies. Soldiers stop Lagos judicial panel from accessing military mortuary

Soldiers manning the gate at the Military Hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos have stopped the State’s Judicial Panel on #EndSARS from assessing the hospital’s mortuary. All schools in Lagos State now free to resume classes

Lagos State Government announced in Ikeja on Monday that all schools, including day care centres, pre-nursery and nursery schools, are free to reopen from October 19. Schools in the state were closed at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in March, but staggered resumption began with final classes in secondary schools in August.
