The 10th House of Representatives is considering a Bill to separate the offices of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) from that of the Minister of Justice. The Bill, co-sponsored by two Peoples Democratic Party lawmakers, Mansur Soro (Darazo/Ganjuwa Federal Constituency, Bauchi State) and Oluwole Oke (Osun) is receiving legislative input from the House Committee on Constitution Review, chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu. Senate splits AGF office from Justice Minister

The Nigerian Senate yesterday voted to separate the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, (AGF) and that of the Minister of Justice. The red chamber also granted approval for the establishment of the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federal Government, as a distinct entity from the Accountant-General of the Federation.
