Two years after Nigeria recorded 15 jailbreaks across the country, the Federal Government is yet to track and recapture the over 3,828 escaped inmates roaming the country freely. It was gathered that between October 2020 and July 5, 2022, Nigeria has recorded incessant incidences of jailbreak across 11 states with the Federal Government failing to forestall the embarrassing situation in the country. Security operatives foil jailbreak in Kano

An attempted jailbreak by inmates of Kurmawa prison, located around the Emirs palace in Kano state was on Thursday evening stopped by security operatives. Eyewitnesses disclosed that sporadic gunshots were heard within the area as residents prepared to break their Ramadan fast. Spokesman of the Nigerian Correctional Service in Kano, one Musbahu Nasarawa, who confirmed the incident, said the rebellion was quelled through the concerted efforts of the prison officials.
