Governor Abba Yusuf, of Kano State, has issued an Executive Order banning establishment of private and parallel Hisbah board, or Shariah Police, in the state. In a bid to prohibit the mixing of males and females during events, the Kano State Hisbah Board has banned male Disc Jockeys (DJs) from officiating at female-dominated events across the State. The Hisbah Board in Kano State has stated that it has arrested eight young men and women, suspected of phone snatching and other criminal activities at Al-Furqan mosque, in Nasarawa GRA.
