A civic group, Hope Builders Nigeria, has called the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to launch a full-scale investigation into the alleged interception of 15 suitcases containing gold bars valued at about ₦4 billion at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport. Recall that it had earlier be reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has intercepted the gold bars. A deposit of high-quality gold ore containing around 1,000 metric tons (1,100 US tons) of the precious metal has been discovered in central China, according to Chinese state media. The Federal Government yesterday announced the official launch of the National Gold Purchase programme, (NGPP), which aims to increase the country’s reserves and boost the value of the Naira.
