The Federal Government says it will deploy seven million smart meters, through its Presidential Metering Initiative, to end estimated billing and revenue leakages. Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Energy, Olu Verheijen, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Abuja yesterday. Nigeria’s power prices need to rise by about two thirds for many customers to reflect the cost of supplying it and an increase can be expected within months, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Energy said. The Federal Government has disclosed that it wants to attract up to $15 billion in private investments into the power sector.  The Government also unveiled plans to increase the electricity tariff for Nigerians, to reflect the full cost Nigerian government still spends trillions of naira on energy subsidy despite removing subsidy for Band-A subscribers last year. Electricity: Average Nigerian home gets only 7hrs supply daily – Report

…Says 85.2% of households still on estimated billing   A new report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), has revealed that the average Nigerian household gets less than seven hours (6.6 hours) per day of electricity.
