Lekki, Lagos now headquarters of Internet fraud – EFCC
Nigerias anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), has said that Lekki, the fast-developing upper middle-class area of the Lagos metropolis, is emerging as the new hub of Internet scammers. The Nigerian were declared wanted for cyber crime involving a $6 million swindle of over 70 U.S. businesses. Their names were given as Michael Olorunyomi, Richard Izuchukwu Uzuh, Alex Afolabi Ogunsakin, Felix Osilama Okpoh, Abiola Ayorinde Kayode and Nnamdi Orson Benson. They were accused of executing a business email compromise scheme that defrauded over 70 different businesses in the U.S., resulting in combined losses of over $6 million.
