BUA Group says it has purchased one million doses of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines for Nigeria, through the AfreximBank vaccine programme, in partnership with Coalition Against Covid-19 (CACOVID). The vaccines, which should be delivered by next week, will be the first delivery of vaccines to Nigeria since the COVID-19 vaccines became available. ‘Nigeria has highest allocation of COVID-19 vaccine in Africa’ – WHO

Nigeria is set to receive the largest allocation of 16million doses out of the 88million AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine doses allocated to African countries in the first phase by the end of February instead of the initial 100,000 Pfizer doses earlier expected, the World Health Organisation (WHO) hinted yesterday. Nigerian state governors want the federal government to expedite actions on local production of COVID-19 vaccine instead of relying on foreign pharmaceutical firms. The Nigerian Government has received the samples of Russia’s COVID-19 vaccine. Russia’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Alexey Shebarshin gave the samples of the COVID-19 vaccine to the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire during a visit to the Ministry in Abuja on Friday. Russia to roll out COVID-19 vaccine in September ahead of the West

A top government official has revealed that Russia could make available a vaccine for the treatment of the Coronavirus disease as early as September.
