The Chairman of Sokoto State Ulama Forum of Izala, Sheikh Abubakar Usman Mabera has said any lawyer who defends the Kano State singer Yahaya Aminu Sharif recently convicted for blasphemy by a Sharia court has renounced his Islamic faith. Yahaya Sharif-Aminu, a musician sentenced to death by hanging for blasphemy against Prophet Muhammed by an Upper Shari’a Court in Kano has appealed the judgment. Blasphemy: Shari’a Council asks Kano govt to execute singer

The Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria has urged Kano State govern­ment to execute the court judgment that found a mu­sician guilty for blasphemy.
