The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) yesterday revealed fresh facts on how former Accountant-General of the Federation, (AGF), Ahmed Idris, compromised the Treasury Single Account, (TSA), Government Integrated Financial Management Information System, (GIFMIS), Integrated Payroll and Personnel information system, (IPPIS), and carted away billions of naira belonging to the Government. The Federal Government of Nigeria has disclosed that it “spent N30,540,563,571.09, representing 84% of the N36.3 billon public funds and donations received to respond to COVID-19 between 1st April, 2020 and 31st July, 2020, leaving the balance of N5.9 billion.” In response to a freedom of information (FoI) request by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) and Connected Development (CODE), Ahmed Idris, Accountant-General of the Federation, said the amount spent represents 84 percent of N36.3 billion COVID-19 donations received from April to July.
