Nigeria’s Super Eagles beat the Mohammed Salah-led Pharaohs of Egypt in the third-place match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, (AFCON), to win their ninth bronze medal in the competition.

Both teams failed to find the back of the net at full and extra time, forcing the match to be decided via penalties.
Nigeria scored two goals during the match which were disallowed for offside positions.
In the ensuing shootouts, the Super Eagles, who lost on penalties to Morocco in the semi-final, triumphed 4-2 to emerge victorious after goalie Stanley Nwabali saved the kicks of superstars Salah and Oma Marmoush.
