The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu has given an update about the social register.

According to her, the ministry would soon start the verification of the social register for transparent distribution of fuel subsidy palliatives.
Edu, who disclosed this during an interview on a television programme on Friday. She noted the ministry would soon commence the distribution of the palliatives.
According to her, poverty alleviation is paramount to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. She added that the Government would provide jobs to alleviate poverty.
“We are starting with the verification of the social register, to ensure that it is truly made of people who deserve the fund. We will be creating humanitarian jobs.
“The ministry would be distributing palliatives to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal. We will be very transparent to Nigerians; the target is to lift 133 million Nigerians by 2030”, she stated.
Recall that Edu, upon resumption of office on Monday, pledged commitment to lifting 133 million Nigerians out of poverty.
