…Recounts narrow escape from bomber at Kawo market
President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, inaugurated several urban renewal projects executed by Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufa’i and commissioned within the metropolis as well as Kafanchan municipal, during his 2-day official visit to the State.

While commissioning the remodeled Murtala Square in Kaduna, the President congratulated the State governor for his commitment and success towards changing the face of the State.
According to him, he has lived in Kaduna all his life but can hardly find his way around as a result of the developmental projects around the state.
He appreciated Governor Nasiru El-Rufai, especially for his ability to write his name with gold.
In his remarks, Governor el-Rufa’i disclosed that the Murtala Muhammed Square was first built in the seventies for FESTAC and handed over to the Kaduna State government by the Federal govermment.
He explained that the edifice which has been rebuilt, redeveloped and transformed into a multi-functional facility with five restaurants, a boutique, hotel, sporting facility, horsing, polo, football, swimming, tennis and a track for those that want to jog will operate for 24 hours, seven days a week.
The Governor mentioned that, Murtala square which has always been used for political rallies will be the new city center of Kaduna State.
The projects commissioned within Kaduna metropolis include; the Murtala square, Racecourse road, Waff road, Leventis underpass, Tafawa Balewa way, Urban shelter road and Umar Musa Yar’adua road.

Others are Dangote Peugeot automobile, AMA pharmaceuticals, Barbedos group fertilisers plant, Pan drive, Aliyu Makama road, Swimming pool road, Alkali road, Infectious Diseases Control Center, LEA lokoja road and the Kawo bridge.
Those commissioned at Kafanchan include; Dan haya road, Katsina road and the Emir’s palace Road.
The president showered encomiums on el-Rufa’i for transforming Kaduna metropolis and other towns in the State. He said that the transformation of the metropolis was so massive that as a resident of the metropolis, he could hardly find his way in the town.
“You are writing your history in letters of Gold”, Buhari told the governor while inaugurating the Murtala Muhammad Square.
He commended the governor for committing himself to changing the State, adding that people throughout the country were appreciative of his effort.
President Buhari, who is on a 2-day working visit, had earlier inaugurated some projects in Kafanchan town, and is expected in Zaria town today, Friday, to inaugurate more projects.
