The Forum also commended the collaborative efforts of key leaders including Kaduna State governor, Senator Uba Sani; Senator representing Kaduna-South, Barr. Sunday Marshall Katung; and Hon. Amos Gwamna Magaji, the H’Reps  member representing Zangon-Kataf/Jaba federal constituency.

The Forum said their concerted efforts, backed by historic legislative Bills as well as the governor’s inclusive support, culminated in the approval of these two transformative projects.

In a statement issued  to newsmen yesterday, signed by its Chairman, Ango Bally, the Forum said: “We are thrilled that President Bola Tinubu has granted assent to two pivotal Bills: the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, sponsored by Senator Katung, and the creation of a Federal Medical Centre, championed by Hon. Magaji”.

The Forum further highlighted that these developments are set to revolutionise the socio-economic, educational and healthcare landscape in the Southern Kaduna region, Kaduna State and Nigeria as a whole.

“The Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, which will include an additional campus in Manchok, Kaura LGA, is expected to provide top-tier education and technical skills for the region’s youth, making Southern Kaduna a hub for innovation and technical expertise”.

The SKJF emphasised that the establishment of a federal university in Southern Kaduna is a significant step forward, representing a departure from years of marginalisation and underdevelopment in the region.

The Forum said the university is seen as a beacon of hope, acknowledging the human capital and potential contributions of Southern Kaduna to national development. “Additionally, the proposed Federal Medical Centre is expected to greatly improve healthcare services, ensuring better access to critical medical care for residents of Southern Kaduna and neighboring states.”, it stated.

The Forum lauded the exemplary collaboration between Governor Uba Sani, Senator Katung, and Hon. Magaji, praising their collective efforts to prioritize the interests of the people above political affiliations.  This unity of purpose, they said, highlights the power of cooperative governance in meeting the needs of the populace.

The SKJF also expressed its sincere gratitude to Vice-President Kashim Shettima for delivering the news of the presidential assent on December 28, 2023, during a condolence visit to Southern Kaduna, following the death of the Agwom Akulu, of Ikulu Chiefdom, a family member of Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto.

Vice-President Shettima’s pledge to work with the State government on infrastructure development, particularly road projects in Southern Kaduna, was also warmly received by the Forum, which commended this commitment to inclusive-growth.

As custodians of public opinion, the SKJF reiterated its dedication to supporting policies that prioritize community welfare and pledged to continue advocating for development, peace, and unity across Southern Kaduna, Kaduna State, and the entire nation.
