Presidential Election: Buhari publicly displays ballot; Says I voted for Tinubu

In a rare display of loyalty, President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday in Daura, Katsina State, displayed his ballot paper, with his thumb print for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, saying that after campaigning for the political leader in many parts of the country, he has reaffirmed on his preferred successor.

President Buhari, who cast his vote alongside his wife, A’isha, including other family members at Ward-A, Sarkin-Yara Polling Unit 003, described showing his ballot paper to the media and the public as further proof of his commitment to the party and its national leader, Tinubu, noting that he had also campaigned for him.

The president thereafter displayed the ballot paper for people to see his choice of presidential candidate before putting it in the ballot box

He further said it was a pity that only one female emerged as gubernatorial candidate of the APC, A’isha Binani, and urged support for the candidate.

The President also assured that he had always supported the candidature of Asiwaju Tinubu, and the show of his ballot paper to the media and the public further shows his commitment to the party and the national leader.

President Buhari, who is serving out his last term in office, advised Nigerians to ensure that their rights to vote were always respected.

In a short remark to newsmen after casting his vote, President Buhari expressed his optimism that the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) will emerge victorious at the end of todays Presidential election

The President had kept the tradition of voting in Daura, his home town, over the years and maintained it throughout his tenure.
