In the wake of mounting concerns over the health of President Bola Tinubu following his absence from several official engagements in recent days, the Presidency has dismissed such claims, insisting the President is carrying out his duties.

According to sources, his medical team is reportedly preparing for the possibility of flying him abroad for urgent treatment.

Reports indicate that the president has been confined indoors for days, with Vice President Kashim Shettima stepping in for him at key events.

Several scheduled meetings and public appearances have been cancelled, including a planned reception for the victorious D’Tigress basketball team. His last public outing was on August 1, when he attended the Progressive Media Summit in Abuja.

Presidency officials confirmed that the Federal Executive Council (FEC)meeting did not hold this week, with Wednesday’s session postponed by the President.

They also said that Tinubu continues to issue directives from home, including recent orders on healthcare for low-income retirees and condolence messages to Ghana after a tragic plane crash.

Bayo Onanuga maintained that the President is working. “He is working. Tinubu has a different style of working. Sometimes he works from home. in fact he does more work from home than even in the office. Whoever is raising the concerns is spreading rumours”, he stated.

The absence has also delayed decisions on certain matters, including confirmation of the reported resignation of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited’s chief executive, Bayo Ojulari.

Tinubu’s health has been the subject of speculation since he assumed office in 2023, with repeated medical and “working” trips to France and the United Kingdom.

Nigerians now await clearer information on his condition as the uncertainty over his public absence continues.
