Plateau: Army launches Operation “Hakorin Damisa” to end killings

The Nigerian Army has launched a new military operation in Plateau state, code-named Operation ‘Hakorin Damisa’ IV, put an end to the recent wave of attacks and killings in the State.

When translated into Hausa, Hakorin Damisa means Leopard’s teeth.

The Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Taoreed Lagbaja, who launched the new operation in Mangu local government area of the state yesterday, said the aim was specifically to end the spate of attacks and killings in the LGA and other parts of the State.

Recall that in the last two months, more than 300 persons had been killed in Mangu LGA and the neighbouring communities following a series of attacks by gunmen.

Lagbaja stated that the Nigerian Army was dedicated to bringing peace to the State. After addressing troops deployed to carry out Operation “Hakorin Damisa”, the Chief of Army Staff moved to a Pilot Primary school in the community and met with the stakeholders.

Recall that the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, had been urged by the House of Representatives to declare a national emergency in Plateau State as a result of ongoing terrorist assaults.
