PDP crisis deepens

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, (LASIEC), has denied reports that it owed ad-hoc staff who conducted the Saturday, 12th July 2025 council election in the state.

In recent days, reports are circulating in the media that LASIEC is yet to pay the ad-hoc staff allowances one month after the election was held.

One of the ad-hoc staff who worked as Presiding Officer in Kosofe area, Segun Komolafe, told newsmen that LASIEC had not paid him one month after the poll. Komolafe said that LASIEC kept telling them to be patient, adding that they were running out of patience after one month of waiting in vain for the Commission.

However, in a statement to newsmen yesterday, the commission refuted the claim, noting that contrary to the publication, all duly verified ad-hoc staff have been paid in accordance with the established schedule, with payments completed within the last two weeks.

The statement pointed that only few outstanding cases exist due to incomplete or incorrect bank details, stressing that respective electoral officers of the affected individuals have been advised to liaise with the concerned ad-hoc staff, to regularise their account information.
