A group, identifying themselves as the ‘Concerned Kaduna-Central Constituents’ has announced the commencement of a petition to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) seeking the recall of Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, (a.k.a Mr. La.), who represents Kaduna-Central Senatorial District.

According to the group, the decision to initiate the recall process stems from what they described as the Senator’s “failure to represent the interests of his constituents, persistent neglect of legislative duties, prolonged absence on vacation, lack of exposure, and the absence of constituency projects”.
In a brief statement made available to newsmen, the group accused Senator Usman of abandoning his responsibilities since assuming office, alleging that his detachment from the realities on the ground has left constituents without effective representation in the 10th National Assembly.
“The people of Kaduna-Central deserve a Senator who will speak for them, initiate meaningful constituency projects, and engage actively in the legislative process. Unfortunately, Senator Usman has failed in all these areas”, the statement read.
The group confirmed that the petition process is already underway, with plans to mobilize registered voters across the senatorial district to sign in support of the recall.
INEC is yet to make an official comment on the development; but by law, a recall process requires signatures from at least half of the registered voters in a senatorial district before it can proceed to verification and potential referendum.
