The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the Inspector-General of Police, (IGP) Mohammed Adamu, should arrest and prosecute the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Abdullahi Abbas, for alleged hate speech.
A viral video revealed Abbas as saying: Attack and punish anybody you see trying to steal votes during the election in 2023; take stiffer action into your hands and nothing will be done. I have ordered you to punish anybody seen before ballots boxes trying to rig the election, this is my punishment, and nothing will happen”.
He added: I call on our party youths to keep their weapons for now as there will be a better time to use them”.
The APC chairman made these comments at the swearing-in of the 44 local government chairmen held at Kano Pillars Stadium.
Kano State chairman of the PDP, Alh. Shehu Wada Sagagi, said a letter to the IGP and other relevant government agencies has been circulated calling for Abbas prosecution.
Sagagi said this was not the first time Abbas will make such remarks, adding that it has been his nature to make such inciting utterances. This is hate speech.
