Drafter and promoter of a private Bill on ‘doctrine of necessity’, Dr. Akin Fapohunda, says he is set to introduce regional government in Nigeria.

Dr. Fapohunda made this stance known in an exclusive discourse on a LibertyTV public affairs programe: ‘Democracy In Practice’.
The promoter of a private Bill further proposed that Nigeria must replace the current system before the next election in 2027, but only through the ‘Doctrine of Necessity’ against the background of flaws of the present Federal Presidential system, which many citizens say is too expensive, and has failed in delivering on the basic aspiration of Nigerians.
He also urged that the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), be dissolved and in its place, the regions should conduct the next elections based on a new Regional Constitution in the draft Bill he is proposing.
