One killed as hoodlums attack FRCN Ibadan radio station

The Nigeria Police, yesterday, confirmed that one person was killed on Saturday when local vigilantes engaged hoodlums who attacked the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), at Moniya in the Akinyele local government area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The State’s Police Commands spokesman, Adewale Osifeso, who stated this in a statement issued yesterday, in Ibadan, said the hoodlums attacked the radio station, vandalising the windscreens of the four vehicles parked within the premises as well as the stations glass entrance door.

Osifeso said the Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state, Ngozi Onadeko, has assured all and sundry that the perpetrators of the dastardly act would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

According to the CP, investigations into the incident are currently ongoing.

Ms Onadeko called on the public to promptly inform the police of any incident of this nature for their quick intervention.

Giving an update on what led to the attack, the Police Commissioner said that it was occasioned by the face-off between a vigilante group and some criminal elements, adding that a member of the criminal gang sustained gunshot injuries during the clash and was confirmed dead at the hospital.

She assured that perpetrators of the attack will be brought to justice.
