NBMOA mourns passing of Aminu Alhassan Ɗantata at 94

The Northern Broadcast Media Owners Association, (NBMOA), has expressed deep sorrow over the death of elder statesman and prominent businessman, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Ɗantata, who passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the age of 94 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, (UAE).

In a condolence message signed by its Chairman, Board of Trustees, (BoT) Alhaji (Dr) Ahmed Tijjani Ramalan, the association extended its heartfelt sympathies to the Ɗantata family, his grandnephew and business magnate Alhaji Aliko Ɗangote, and the Kano State Government.

“May Almighty Allah grant him eternal peace in Aljannah Firdaus, Ameen”, the statement read.

Alhaji Aminu Ɗantata was widely respected for his significant contributions to commerce, philanthropy, and the socio-economic development of Northern Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Ɗantata, has been laid to rest in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, in accordance with his final wish to be buried beside his late wife. Although his burial took place in Saudi Arabia, a funeral prayer was held in absentia at the Umar Bin Khattab Mosque in Kano.

The prayer was led by the Chairman of the Kano Council of Ulama, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, alongside the Commandant-General of the Kano Hisbah Board, Sheikh Ibrahim Daurawa.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, members of the Kano State Executive Council, as well as notable figures from the business community, among others.

Ɗantata passed away at the age of 94 in the early hours of yesterday in the UAE.

Family sources confirmed that his burial in Madinah was in line with his longstanding wish to be interred near his wife’s grave in Saudi Arabia.
