In a statement issued yesterday, the Chairman of the NBMOA Board of Trustees, Alhaji (Dr.) Ahmed Tijjani Ramalan, described Idris as a seasoned media professional whose influence spans print, broadcast, and public relations.

Ramalan noted that Idris has brought “freshness and credibility” to public communication under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, highlighting his effectiveness in articulating government policies and programmes.

He further praised the Minister’s longstanding impact on Nigeria’s media landscape, citing his role as publisher of Blueprint newspapers and founder of WE-FM as evidence of his deep-rooted experience in the industry.

According to the NBMOA, Idris has distinguished himself in several key areas, including the promotion of national orientation and cohesion campaigns, delivery of reliable information at scale, and fostering collaboration with private and independent media stakeholders.

The association also commended his efforts in safeguarding Nigeria’s information space, particularly through initiatives aimed at countering misinformation, propaganda, and emerging threats such as deepfakes. It noted his support for ethical broadcasting standards and regulatory measures designed to protect the country’s media and advertising ecosystem from undue foreign influence. “As one of our own, we celebrate this milestone with him and pray for continued good health and many more years of dedicated national service,” the statement added.

NBMOA reaffirmed its support for the Minister’s initiatives, especially those geared towards strengthening national unity, enhancing digital security, and promoting a resilient and sovereign media environment.
