Represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu made this pledge at the Nigerian Bar Association, (NBA), Annual General Conference in Lagos.

He praised the NBA for its role in promoting democratic ideals and called on Nigerian lawyers to collaborate with his administration in achieving sustainable national development. Tinubu assured that his Government would prioritise the welfare of the Judiciary and work to accelerate the judicial process to support social and economic progress.

Tinubu also commended the Supreme Court for its recent ruling granting financial autonomy to local governments, viewing it as a catalyst for grassroots development.

The conference featured key addresses, including one by the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, (WHO) Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who emphasised the need for strong macro-economic reforms and a new social contract to drive Nigeria’s growth. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, of Lagos State, echoed the importance of securing lives and property as part of this social contract.

NBA President Yakubu Maikyau reaffirmed the bar’s dedication to justice and urged lawyers to fight corruption and uphold their duties with integrity.

The event also saw the launch of a new book, titled: “History of the Nigerian Bar Association“, authored by lawyer Olanrewaju Akinsola.
