Defiant bandits attack Kaduna-Abuja highway again, abduct dozens of travellers

Kaduna to Abuja passengers stranded at Rigasa train station as Booking App stops working

Bandits yesterday returned to the Abuja-Kaduna highway, abducting dozens of travellers.

The attack reportedly occurred between Akilibu and Rijana villages along the expressway.

Confirming the attack, a former Kaduna State senator who represented Kaduna-Central in the 8th Senate, Senator Shehu Sani, said the security officers refused to engage the kidnappers.

“Some travellers have been kidnapped along Kaduna-Abuja Road an hour ago. The bandits operated between Akilibu and Rijana villages unchallenged. The road is deserted,” he posted on Twitter.

Also yesterday, at Rigasa train station in Kaduna, the booking app has allegedly stopped working since Friday due to a reported upgrade and increased passengers that are scared to travel by road. The train ticket, which had hitherto been N2,600 is now reportedly going from N10, 000 above at black market price.
