…“Why we didn’t interrogate him” – Senate
Former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has said that President Bola Tinubu won’t regret nominating him to serve as a minister in his cabinet.

Wike, the only chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the ministerial list sent by the President to the Senate last Thursday, stated this during his screening in the Senate chamber today, July 31.
Wike told the Senators that during his time as governor of the oil-rich Niger Delta state from May 2015 to May 2023, he started and completed many projects to improve the infrastructure of the state and that he invited politicians across party lines to commission them.
‘’I thank Mr. President for nominating me. I believe knowing how hungry Mr. President is to solving the problems of Nigeria, we have no choice to give him that required support and I can assure you that if I am confirmed, he will never in whatever capacity regret nominating me”. He was then asked to ‘take a bow and go’.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, who explained why former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, was not grilled when he appeared for the screening stated that the Senate had his records as he had served as a minister in Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
He said, “Having been nominated again for a ministerial position, there is no point asking him many questions”.
