In continuation of his stronghold on the NNPC and its subsidiaries, its Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari has been accused of illegal recruitment of staff into the conglomerate in contravention of the due process for conducting recruitments into Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as established by the Federal Government.
According to multiple sources, Kyari is allegedly secretly recruiting people as staff without the approval of the Board of the NNPCL, adding that the recruitment was done between January and February 2023. It was gathered that the exercise was lopsided in favour of certain sections of the country contrary to the provisions of the federal character.
The recruitment has drawn widespread condemnations from the staff of the agency who alleged that the newly recruited people were positioned above them.
Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC, Garba Deen Muhammad, however, could not be reached on the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
