A’isha Alkali Wakil, popularly known as ‘Mama Boko Haram’ has been docked again in Maiduguri, Borno State, on a fresh three-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy and obtaining the sum of N41.7 million by false pretense.
A’isha was docked by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), Maiduguri Zonal Office before Justice A’isha Kumaliya, of the Borno State High Court.
She was arraigned alongside Tahiru Sa’idu Daura, (Programme Manager), and Prince Lawal Shoyede (Country Director), all belonging to a Non-Governmental Organisation, (NGO), ‘Complete Care and Aid Foundation’.
The defendants were alleged to have induced one Hajia Bilkisu Mohammed Abubakar to execute a supply contract worth N41m for the NGO, allegedly owned by Wakil, which the foundation refused to pay.
The defendants however, pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the charge preferred against them.
Based on their plea, prosecuting counsel, Haruna AbdulKadir, asked the court to fix a date for trial, to enable the first and third defendants who did not have legal representation to come with their counsel.
Justice Kumaliya consequently adjourned till 26 January for commencement of trial.
