Lagos court grants CBN gov., Emefiele N50m bail

The embattled former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele, has been granted bail in the sum of N50m after being charged with a 26-count bordering on alleged abuse of office and irregular allocation of $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion respectively.

Emefiele was admitted to bail with two sureties in like sum by Justice Rahmon Oshodi yesterday.

The  former CBN governor is facing trial in Lagos on a 26-count charge bordering on abuse of office.

Oshodi ordered the sureties must be gainfully employed and must have made three years tax payment with the Lagos State Government.

?He also said that the sureties must show proper identification and that they must be registered in the Lagos State Bail Management System

The judge said he was satisfied with the bail conditions of N1 million, earlier given to Emefieles co-defendant, Henry Isioma-Omoil, who is facing another charge before Justice Olufunke Sule-Hamzat, of Yaba High Court.

?Oshodi, however, said the bail documents must be transferred to special offences court and registered in the Lagos State Bail Management System.
