Rampaging armed bandits embarked on a shooting spree at the Kukar Babangida community, Jibia local government area of Katsina State, early yesterday morning, leaving the village head, Magajin-Zauren Katsina, Haruna Ubale, two of his sons, and six other people dead.
According to the State’s Police spokesman, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, the armed bandits also burnt five vehicles before they left the village.
He said in an interview that the bandits, who were armed to the teeth with AK-47 rifles stormed the village at about 1:30 a.m. yesterday.
“Suspected bandits attacked Kukar Babangida village yesterday, shooting sporadically from AK-47 rifles. They killed nine people in the process. They also burnt five vehicles.
“Police operatives were swiftly deployed in the area and they have since restored normalcy”, Aliyu stated.
He assured that the assailants would be arrested soon.
