Katsina: Gov. Radda rules out negotiation with bandits

…Recruits 1,500 Community Watch Corps

Katsina State Governor, Umar Radda, has expressed his administrations readiness to end banditry within the shortest possible time despite the renewed attacks in some parts of the State.

Briefing newsmen yesterday to mark 100 days in office of his government, the governor said the State Government would no longer negotiate with the criminals.

He said as part of his governments eagerness to confront the menace headlong, he recruited 1,500 Community Watch Corps, and purchased 700 motorcycles, armoured carrier vehicles and several Hilux vehicles worth over N7 billion to end the challenge.

Radda affirmed his commitment to prioritise insecurity to ensure normalcy returns to the troubled frontline local government area to boost social and economic development in the State. The governor further explained his administrations challenges, achievements and intended prospects to better the lives of the people despite the economic hardships being faced, saying he has done a lot to reposition the State.

He stated that his government since inception set up about 20 committees to work in various areas in the reformation and strategising of the government’s ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), including implementations of the strategic blueprint of the campaign promises he made for the people.

The governor therefore urged residents of the state to bear with his government and be prayerful, as he pledged not to relent in unfolding better plans and programmes for the good and progress of the State, assuring to deliver the mandate given to him.
