Governor Uba Sani, of Kaduna State, has unveiled a sweeping vision of agricultural transformation anchored on structured policies, mechanized farming, and youth engagement—positioning the State as a national pacesetter in agri-business development.

The Governor made this known on Tuesday, at the official launch of the National Agribusiness Policy Mechanism, (NAPM), held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Speaking before a high-powered audience that included Vice-President Kashim Shettima, fellow governors, Ministers, and Development Partners, he highlighted Kaduna’s shift from subsistence farming to a market-driven model.
The Governor outlined strategic policies such as the Kaduna Contract Farming Policy, Soybean Policy, Gender in Agriculture Policy, and a dedicated Ease-of-Doing-Business in Agriculture framework as some of the drivers of Kaduna’s milestone.
“With over 80% arable land and a vibrant youthful population, Kaduna is deliberately placing agriculture at the centre of its economic transformation. Our aim is to tackle unemployment, hunger, and poverty while turning our state into an agricultural hub”, he stated.

Governor Sani praised the launch of NAPM as timely, calling it a critical platform for aligning State and federal efforts, harmonizing investments, and strengthening data-driven decision-making. He urged a redefined partnership model, whereby States take the lead in production and productivity, while the Federal Government provides trade, policy, and investment support.
The event, which attracted key players across the agricultural value-chain, signalled a renewed commitment to building a resilient, inclusive and competitive food system in Nigeria—with Kaduna boldly leading the charge.
