The Commandant of the Police Academy College Wudil, Kano State; Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Ahmad AbdulRahman, has charged security agencies to take advantage of the 30,000 Coalition Joint Task Force (JTF) members in Kaduna State to fight banditry and other crimes in the State.
AbdulRahman disclosed this shortly after being recognized as one of the patrons of the JTF in Kaduna State, at the Unity Parade and Special prayers event organised by the Coalition of the JTF to mark the 62 Independence anniversary of Nigeria which was held in the State.
According to the AIG, the JTF members are forces to reckon with in the fight against crimes and other social vices in the country. He recalled that when he was the State commissioner of Police, he worked with the JTF members and found them to be loyal and committed to the fight against crime.
AbdulRahman urged the leadership of the security agencies, the military and the Department of State Services (DSS) fighting kidnappers and bandits to use the members of the JTF, because they are trained by the State Police Command. “I’m appealing to soldiers, Police, and the DSS to use these men, because engaging them means having the support of 30,000 men. I have tested and trust them, and will use them again if given the opportunity”, he stressed.
He also cited the role the Coalition JTF members played in the year 2019 general elections, when they assisted other conventional security agencies to maintain law and order across the State.
In his remarks, the Coalition JTF State Chairman, Engr. Shehu Usman Dan Tudu, said the Unity Parade was held to promote the synergy and harmonious relationships among various organisations offering security services voluntarily in the State. According to him, as Coalition JTF members, they are only assisting the Police to fight crime in their communities through community policing.
He urged the Government and other organisations to assist the group with tools to enable them to discharge their job diligently.
