…As Police confirm rescue of 26 kidnapped Bethel school students
Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmed el-Rufa’i, yesterday ordered the immediate closure of 13 schools following the abduction of some students in the State by bandits.

Bandits attacked Bethel Baptist High School in Damishi town, of Chikun local government area in Kaduna, kidnapping an unspecified number of students yesterday.
This comes a few days after the governor of the state, el-Rufa’i said he secretly withdrew his son who attends a public school due to security reports that bandits were targeting his son.
The directive for closure of the schools was issued by the Director-General of Quality Assurance Authority in the State’s Ministry of Education, Umma Ahmed, to proprietors of private schools.
“You are hereby advised to adhere to the contents of this letter as appropriate sanctions shall be meted out to schools that are found wanting for non-compliance”, Ahmed stated, in a letter to school proprietors.
The schools affected by the directive include: Faith Academy, along Kachia Road adjacent to Jakaranda; Deeper Life Academy, Maraban Rido; ECWA Secondary school, Unguwar Maje and Bethel Baptist High School, Damishi.
Others are: St. Peters Minor Seminary, Katari; Prelude Secondary School, Kujama; Ibiso Secondary School, Tashar Iche; Tulip International (Boys) School and Tulip international (Girls) School, Goodnews Secondary School, St. Augustine, Kujama; Comprehensive Development Institution (CDI), Tudun-Mare and Adventist College, Kujama.

Meanwhile, the State Police Command has revealed that 26 of the students kidnapped from Bethel Baptist School, in Maraban-Rido, within the Chikun LGA of the State, have been rescued.
This was confirmed yesterday by the Police spokesman, Muhammed Jalige, in the aftermath of the abductions. According to him, a joint team of the Nigeria Police, Army, and Navy Operatives on getting information about the attack immediately mobilised to the area with a mission to rescue the abducted students unhurt.
