Kaduna: Chikun LG Chair welcomes over 1,000 defectors from PDP, LP to APC

Executive Chairman of Chikun local government area, Engr. Salasi Nuhu Musa, yesterday received over 1,000 defectors from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The mass defection, which took place in Nasarawa ward of Chikun LGA, Kaduna State, saw a large turnout of supporters, political leaders, and stakeholders. The defectors were drawn from Kunai, Kuriga, and Nasarawa wards.

In his remarks, Engr. Salasi welcomed the new members, describing their decision as a bold step toward unity and collective progress. He assured them of inclusive governance and opportunities to contribute to the growth of the local government.

Several dignitaries attended the event, including Hon. Abubakar Shehu Giwa, Political Adviser to Governor Uba Sani; Malam Adamu Sani, an elder statesman in Kaduna State;  MaikuÉ—i Tela, an APC stakeholder; Hon. Lawal Najume, Vice-Chairman of Chikun LGA; Alhaji Auwal Iliyasu, APC Chairman of Chikun LGA; and Hon. Dogara Audu, Speaker of the Chikun LG Legislative Council.

The leaders of the defecting groups were also formally introduced.

From Kunai Ward: Hon. Rabiu Ola, AbdulMalik Zakari, AbdulGaniyu Mu’azu, Aliyu Garba, Luka Pada and Elisha Jagaba.

From Nasarawa Ward: James Gandu, Bala Kadi, Solomon Dominion, Pastor Ayuba Bulus, Victoria Ayuba, Alisabatu Habila, and Idi Babajo.

From Kuriga Ward: Hon. Nasiru ÆŠanjuma, Hon. Aliyu Ibrahim, Imam Hussaini Iliyasu, AbdulSalam Hudu, Shu’aibu Haruna, John Alkali, Buhari Sani, Shedrach David, and Charity Shagaya.

The development is seen as a major boost for the APC in Chikun LGA ahead of future political contests.
